The GTA VI leaks: every claimed mechanic, honestly labelled

August's leaks are the biggest yet — a claimed mechanics list that reads like RDR2's systems transplanted into Vice City, and reportedly a near-complete map. None of it is confirmed by Rockstar. All of it is fascinating. Here's the round-up, every item a claim, not a fact, compiled from the r/GTA6 community round-up (4.5K upvotes and climbing). No leaked footage or images here — just the discussion.

Cars that live

  • Fuel mechanics — cars need filling up
  • Mechanical maintenance, RDR2-horse style — look after your car or it suffers
  • In-car object and weapon storage
  • More robust damage with a paint-scratch system — scratches and sparks on contact
  • Tailgate, door and hood interactivity; reportedly the most realistic tire smoke yet seen

Systems from Rockstar's last decade

  • An Honor system (RDR2's fingerprints)
  • Stamina system, and crash damage that can hurt — or kill — Jason in extreme wrecks
  • Cash on hand vs cash at home/vault — carrying everything has consequences
  • Side activities that raise character attributes (basketball reportedly boosts focus)

The world pushing back

  • 6-star wanted level, with icons showing whether cops know your car, clothes and face
  • Roadside speed traps and traffic enforcement
  • NPCs dodge crashes realistically, ride bicycles, and react face-to-face in near-misses
  • Greet / Antagonize / Defuse / Threaten interactions return

The tech claims

  • Ray-traced real-time reflections
  • Water and object physics 'from another level' — objects float and water reacts dynamically
  • Denser vegetation; improved fight animations over RDR2
  • The leaked footage reportedly runs at 60fps (metadata suggests 2023 gameplay — actual recording date unknown)

The map leak

Alongside the mechanics list, a purportedly near-complete map has leaked — the community mapping project reports it matches their reconstruction “pretty much spot on except for northern parts.” If genuine, the fan cartographers essentially had it right all along. We're not hosting or linking the map itself.

What we're watching for

The leak everyone forgets is coming: the trophy list. GTA VI is on our Trophy Radar watch list — the moment its list appears anywhere, we publish it, and alert subscribers get one email. Meanwhile the pre-order numbers are already historic: 4.38M copies sold before launch per Sensor Tower's tracker on our Console Pulse. Build your crew for launch on our GTA VI hub.

Written 20 Aug 2026. Everything above is community-reported leak material — unverified, unconfirmed by Rockstar, and liable to be wrong in parts. We'll say plainly what was right and wrong when the game speaks for itself.
